The $0 Tax Stamp Change
As of January 1, 2026, the $200 federal transfer tax on suppressors was eliminated under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — the most significant change to suppressor ownership in nearly a century. The tax is gone, but the process itself hasn't disappeared: you still need to complete an ATF Form 4, pass an FBI background check, and provide the required photos and fingerprints.
What's changed is the cost, and increasingly, the wait — electronic Form 4 filings are now commonly approved in days to a few weeks, a dramatic shift from the many-month waits that used to define the process.

Background check and registration.
ATF runs your background check through NICS and processes your registration. Individual filings are currently the fastest route; trust filings take slightly longer but offer other advantages (see below).

We prepare and submit your ATF Form 4.
As your SOT dealer, we handle the paperwork submission through ATF's eForms system — the fastest available path to approval.

Approval and pickup.
Once approved, you complete your transfer in person, by appointment, the same way every other purchase at Palm Beach Armament works.
Individual Ownership vs. a Gun Trust
You can register a suppressor as an individual or through a legal gun trust. A trust allows multiple named trustees to legally possess and use the suppressor, and it can simplify inheritance if something happens to the primary owner — but it currently takes a bit longer to process than an individual filing. We'll walk you through which option actually makes sense for your situation rather than defaulting to whichever is easiest to sell.

Can I use my current firearm with a new suppressor?
In most cases, yes, provided the suppressor is rated for your firearm's caliber and the barrel has (or can be fitted with) the correct threading. We'll confirm compatibility with you before you buy.
